Junior Iron Chef SCC is a premiere county-wide culinary competition
for teams of Santa Cruz County middle and high school students.

Teams consist of 3-5 students in 6-8th grade or 9-12th grade. Each team will have an adult coach who is a school representative or from a school related organization or parent/guardian of a team member. Coaches will be present during the entire competition. Teams may also have an Assistant Coach to support the Coach during practices and the competition.

The following honors will be given in the Morning and Afternoon Award Ceremonies for each age category:

  • CROWD-PLEASER – This award goes to the team that best incorporates color, texture, and taste for a true crowd-pleaser.
  • LIVELY LOCAL – This award goes to the team that best highlights local, Santa Cruz County foods.
  • MISE EN PLACE – “Everything in its place”, this award goes to the team that shows exemplary teamwork, order, and professionalism.
